Well hello! Thank you for taking the time to open my blog post let alone me the time to read it. My name is Quincy and I am the creative force behind Nails by QuincyB. I figured I’d give a small introduction on how when and why I got into creating custom press on nails.
First things first, Why press ons?
Press on nails have been around longer than I have. Press ons have been entering women’s fashion and style boards since the mid-1950s. Originally created by a dentist to prevent his clients from biting their nails, press on nails have been used to alter someone’s smallest detail, down to the fingertip. See what I did there.
I began creating press on nails , originally just for myself, at the very beginning of the pandemic. Now, I know pre-pandemic life seems prehistoric, but walk with me here.
Finding the time to schedule an appointment with my one nail lady who was always books weeks in advance. Once the appointment is set, dragging myself to the chop shop (aka nail salon) to sit and wait a full 1 hour and 45 minutes just to not be 10000% completely happy with the set I just shelled $95-$120 for. But wait, there’s more! Getting in the car are realizing two of the nails are too tight/small, and now I have to be uncomfortable for 4-5 days before the pain passed.
It was HELL.
Mid-Pandemic, I was fed up with not being able to feel cute anymore. Not knowing when my next hand-to-hand physical touch would be meant mani/pedis were a thing of the past. At this point, I had purchased custom press on nails before and loved the convenience of them. I could choose any length, a few shapes, and whatever designs were available on said website. But I wanted more.
I wanted nails that made me 10000% happy. Any color. Any length. Any charm. Any design. It was then that I came to the realization, “If I want them done right, I’m gonna have to do them myself.” And guess what I did? THAT!
